"Style Steal": Kylie Jenner.

Do you ever have those days where you don't have the energy to get ready? Me. Almost every single day.
This Kylie Jenner is extremely easy to recreate & all my clothes were found in my closet. Surprisingly I didn't plan on recreating this look, until someone at school told me I was dressed like Kylie.

Not only is this look comfortable, simple, and effortless; you still look super cute.
All you need is a pair of boyfriend jeans, a striped top - your choice if you want it cropped - a pair of converse and some accessories. The best part is you don't have to do your hair, but it in a bun and it completes the look.

Outfit.

My washed out boyfriend jeans are from PacSun
My cropped, black and white top is from Forever 21. Another option is wearing a long stripped shirt, but tucking it into your jeans.
My shoes are cream colored converse.
Kylie Jenner tends to wear a lot of jewelry, I went simple. I wore silver body chain from Brandy and a black choker with a crescent moon from an etsy shop.

Voila! Your casual Kylie Jenner look for a day out to run errands, going to school, or if you're like me an afternoon snack at the Anaheim Packing District.

I'm using the blogger app on my phone, to update more often, let me know how it looks or if you prefer it on the computer!

Recreate this look and send it to me on twitter and tag me on Instagram to see your own twist on this outfit at: @KenniaCardenas1.

Lots of love always, Kennia! 💕

Vanessa Hudgens Inspired Look.

Vanessa Hudgens is one of my biggest style inspirations, from clothes to hair.
She's bold and that's what I love most about her.

Her street style is simple, but chic.
My favorite hairstyle is the one one top the braided crown because it's so effortless, but can be used for any occasion.

I decided to recreate her hair and make-up; grabbed an outfit from my closet and decided to do an inspired look.

Outfit.
Vanessa Wears a lot of Bohemian dresses, although I had a dress exactly like hers, I decided to wear this one since I thought it went better with my hair and make-up.

Flowy, floral print dress with a v-neck and beautiful bead detailing on the neck-line and the sleeves.
The back is almost backless and ties on top. My favorite part are the wide sleeves, something Vanessa would love. Vanessa loves pairing her dresses with knee-high boots, I decided to pair my outfit with knee-high black boots.

Dress: Forever 21
Boots: G.H. Bass & Co.

Hair.
The hair was simple, you don't need any hair products. No need for heat, which is my favorite part.
All you need is:
  • Bobby Pins
  • Hair Ties (I used the small clear bands)
  • Comb
Split your hair down the middle and braid both sides. Don't forget to comb out some strands in the front. After you're done braiding, bring your braids across your head to opposite side and bobby pin them down.

Make-up.

Foundation: *your choice*
Eyes: Maybelline's Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze"
Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette in "Chopper" & "Foxy"
Kat Von D's tattoo liner in the color "Trooper"
Lips: Maybelline's Vivids in "Fuchsia Flash"

This look is simple and effortless, but street chic.
I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post, a lot of my outfit inspirations come from Vanessa Hudgens.

Red Lip Colors.

If it's one beauty product you will always find in my purse it's any sort of lip product; lipsticks, lipgloss, lip butters, chapsticks.

I love lip products in the winter time, as for colors I stick with reds and purples. But for this blog post I'm going to stick with reds & I'll make a separate one for the plums.
The traditional bright red goes for any occasion and even makes a casual outfit more put together. But my favorite red for the winter time is a dark red.

I'm going to be showing you some of my favorite red lip products down below with some outfit descriptions.

Let's start with my favorite RED lipstick.

Kate by Rimmel.

In color 107.

You'll see me wearing this color A LOT. It looks great with black clothing and if you're not feeling the bright red, this color is perfect for you. It's the perfect shade of dark red. Although it does have to be reapplied after some time and after you eat.

This color even goes great with casual outfits, but the lip color puts some sort of effort to it.
Bottoms: Faux Leather Leggings.
Top: Grey Tank Top; Waist: Red, Checkered flannel

Want to make the daytime outfit to a night out?
Get rid of the flannel and add a vest or a coat; I love faux fur.
Nails: Essie, "to buy or not to buy" (I definitely bought).

Revlon Colorstay Overtime.
Color: Stay Current

There's days where I'm so busy or just worn out that I do not want to reapply my lip color - is this you to? Problem solved. I've recently discovered this product when I was in Target & saw "16 hr color stay." I was a bit pessimistic because I've boughten lip products with the same saying, but I have to keep reapplying it or it smudges a lot. I bought 'Wet n Wild's' megalast, which is more affordable and has the same results, but feels like dry paint after a while.

The color is a nice maroon red and STAYS ON ALL DAY, it DOES NOT smudge, and when you're on a dinner date the color doesn't smudge on your drinks or food!  It comes with two sides, the first side is the lip color & the second is the gloss, which adds moisture. You do not have to reapply this lip product, so if you forget to pack this product don't worry - you'll be good the entire time you're out. But you're welcome to use the glossy side if your lips are feeling a bit dry, which is quite nice.

I live in California, where the weather can go from 80 degrees in the winter to 40 degrees. For others 40-60 degrees may seem like nothing, but for a Cali born and raised girl - I get COLD! I know, I know, that is nice weather in the east coast.

This day was warm, but a bit chilly. So i wore a jean dress, with a brown waisted belt; I added a red long sleeve because it wasn't cold enough to wear a sweater.

LIPS by TOPSHOP.
Color: Rio Rio

The perfect shade of bright red, soft, but does need to be reapplied after a while. The color is so pigmented, it's beautiful.
I love to pair my traditional red lip with jean clothing; jean shirts or jean dresses preferably. I think it makes a perfect combination.
Top: Jean Shirt
Bottoms: Black Disco Pants
Shoes: Black Knee High Boots.

If you want the same red lip color, but for a more affordable price another favorite of mine is Rimmel's Kate in the color 01.

Style Steal : Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall

Style Steal

Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix.

You can wear the same clothes & style as celebrities for an affordable price.

The first Style Steal is Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix.
I love this girl group and each one has their own unique fashion sense and they always look great. I decided to go with Jade Thirlwall's look from her appearance on The Riff. Simple, easy & cute.

You can also incorporate this look for the fall by adding some tights and a long sleeve shirt.
Jade's navy blue overall shorts come from Topshop & can be purchased here. Her gray top is also from Topshop and can be purchased here. For shoes, she went with these grey and white oxfords.

For my look, I went with black overall shorts from forever 21 & a grey top shop, which is also from forever 21. The overalls are much like Jade's except for the color and the buckles on the side. The top I'm wearing is a little darker than Jade's, cropped, but the sleeves are rolled up the same way. For shoes, I unfortunately don't own any grey or white oxfords, I decided to go with these black booties with silver zippers in the back from Steve Madden.

Jewelry, from the picture I can't really tell if she's wearing an elephant, a horse, or another type of animal, so I went with this really cute silver butterfly.

More style steals to come, leave me suggestions on who you want to see or more on this outfit.
I can do a look book on youtube for this look if wanted.

Comfy Fall Look.

Is it Fall Yet?

It's almost November and fall has started, but living in California the weather goes through mood swings.

Sometimes it'll feel like fall, being able to wear sweaters, beanies, and drinking hot chocolate. While other times, it feels like it's summer and you're dying because you're trying to wear fall clothing. Trust me, I've been there and done that.

The other day it started feeling like fall and as much as I didn't want to leave my bed, I had things to do. So comfy attire it was.

When wearing a casual outfit, don't be afraid to wear something printed. I decided to go with printed shoes to add a little something to my outfit.

Ripped Boyfriend Jeans: Forever 21.
Black Laced Top: Cotton On.
Black & White Cardigan: Forever 21
Cheetah Printed Shoes: Gift.

Fall is my favorite season for a ton of reasons, one of them being LIP COLORS! For make-up I decided to go with a smokey eye & for lips a purple velvet color from NYX.

Bare with me, I really didn't have time to take pictures or had someone to take pictures or record for me. Next post will be better, so I hope you bare with me!

Here's a quick video to see more of the outfit:

Love, Kennia.

A Girl At Home.

Hi, my name is Kennia (Ken-ya).
I wanted a cool name like "unicornsandglitter," but someone had the same thought.

This blog is named "citylightschic" & I will bring you fashion, ootd's, style steals, videos & look books.
Experimenting with outfits, coming out of my comfort zone and wearing things that I would never wear in the past because people's opinions would invade my head.

Why "citylightschic" you ask? One of my favorite songs is called, "City Lights" by Bridgit Mendler. She sings about "feeling lost" and feeling like an "outcast and a castaway." I use to feel this way and at certain times I still do. Everyone has "city lights" in them, your shine. Don't be afraid to be yourself, wear what you want, express yourself because all that matters is your happiness. There's this part in the song where she says, "Every time that you think you've lost your shine, just remember nothing's brighter, your city lights. Every time that you fade into the night, just remember your the fire, your city lights."

If you ever feel like you're not good enough, remember you are. If you ever feel like you can't pull a certain outfit off, try. Confidence is key, especially in wearing an outfit.

I  hope you enjoy this blog and my journey in clothes. I hope this helps you with some of your outfit choices or even gives you inspiration to wear something you've always wanted to wear, but were afraid to.
